This Is No Place For Ninnies

It’s pretty much customary for one to look back at the end of the year and take stock, the hope being that we can proceed with a bit more wisdom than before. I, like you, naturally focus this retrospective on my personal life except this year I found myself looking over the past year with our clients, musing about what direction might need some support in the year ahead. The insight was revealing and one I want to share with you. I have to preface these remarks by pointing out that my thoughts must be applied and taken in generality. They are not aimed at any one of you individually, but as the saying goes, if the shoe fits, wear it.

The overall attitude that seemed to prevail last year was one of complaint, whing and most of all a cry-baby attitude of “I can’t.” Now, this was not the center of every conversation I had with you last year, but it was prevalent more often than it should have been.

We did a lot of business consulting last year, mostly associated with those very special dates for incorporation that appeared last fall. Many clients took advantage of these dates, and I’m delighted they did. What I didn’t expect was all the whining feedback I received on “how hard it is,” or “I don’t know what to do now.” It was an appalling response. But I received similar comments from non-business clients too, and I am concerned.

Look people, it is time you woke up to reality! It is time you pulled away from believing in strong and weak, rich and poor, smart and dumb, and realize that you are not at a disadvantage! Yes, of course, we are all different but that difference is not one of competence over incompetence. The reality is that you cannot get here, on this planet, in this school, unless you are qualified to be here. And the first requirement of qualification is that you are fully capable of doing the job at hand.

It is not up to the Universe to give you a weekly pep talk or hold your hand. The Universe does not make ninnies. The Universe has created us in its image·strong, dependable, creative, complete, self-assured, joyful, intelligent and harmonious. It matters not who you are or what you do, you are imbued with these qualities and they reside in every cell of your body! But you are also invested with free will and if you want to ignore these powers and sit and cry and tell yourself you can’t do this and you can’t do that, then so be it.

But if metaphysics teaches us one thing, it is that we can do it! We can reach our mountain! We do have the power and the capability to succeed in any way we wish and under any conditions we wish. You are the most powerful force in creation and you were not destined to drown in a puddle of tears, gurgling in your frustration and claiming “foul.” It is time to get rid of the “poor me” syndrome. It is time to stand on your own two feet and face life with a sense of personal certainty.

You have but a relative short time here. No one will make you do what you don’t want to do or give you what your don’t want to work for. It is up to you to illuminate your life. It is 2005. Promise yourself – no more tears – G.T.
